First Visit

Welcome! I wanted to begin by giving you an idea of what to expect at your initial appointment with Home Comfort Pet Nursing Services.

When we first arrive, we will let your pet get acclimated with our presence in your home before getting started with the procedures. We have lots of treats and snuggles to offer!

Once your pet is more comfortable with us, we will need to safely and properly position them for the procedure. For example, the preferred method for a nail trim is to carefully and safely place them on their side (we are trained in how to do this), but this may be more stressful for them. We may then try them standing or sitting until we find a position in which they are the most comfortable and with the least resistant. We will then use that position for the remainder of the visit as well as future visits, as long as they remain comfortable.

Some pets are more cooperative with their family/other pets present during procedures, while some are less cooperative. We will always try to have you nearby, but depending on their level of cooperation, we may request that they not be able to see you or your other pets during procedures. Our goal is to perform the procedures in the manner in which your pet is the least fearful/anxious/stressed.

Once we are finished with the procedure(s), I will provide my recommendation for their next visit. Lastly, we will sneak in a few more snuggles and be on our way!
