Vivian

I want to bring your attention to a very special friend of mine.

Vivian Flores was one of the two victims in the murders that occurred in the Cornerstone Church parking lot in Ames, Iowa in June of 2022.

Vivian meant the world to me.  We met at Jordan Creek Animal Hospital, where I trained and mentored her, specifically in surgery and anesthesia.  She was one of the most dedicated students I have ever had the privilege of teaching. She had an unmatched ambition to be the best in everything she did.  Vivian’s personality however, is really where she stood out.  She was always smiling and incredibly optimistic.  She was silly, sweet, humbled, charismatic, and simply wonderful to be around.  We hugged at the beginning of every single shift we had together.  We shared stories about our personal lives together.  We encouraged each other when we weren’t at our best.

Most importantly, we shared our dreams and goals together.  I have always had strong opinions about how to improve the veterinary field, and Vivian, with much less experience than me, absolutely understood where I was coming from and vowed to create positive change as she continued her collegiate journey to veterinary school and beyond.  If you have used my services, there is a 100% chance you would have met Vivian. She was the first person on my list of potential assistants as I was drafting my logistics.  I was literally a week or two away from discussing with her when I heard the terrible news.

What brings me peace is knowing that Vivian is now with our Lord.  Above all else, she was a faithful follower of Christ.  I know she is supporting me every step of the way as I grow this business.  I am saddened that my current and future clients will not know Vivian in the flesh, but hopefully with these words, they will get a sense of what a truly inspirational young woman she was.  If any of your pets are no longer with us, just know they are having the time of their life with Vivian.  This I promise you.

Vivian, you are always in my heart.
