RVT

RVT stands for Registered Veterinary Technician.   We have an Associate’s Degree in Veterinary Technology, have passed the national board exam, and maintain our licensure with continuing education classes.  Often times we also have a bachelor’s degree. In addition to an RVT’s hands-on skills, we offer extensive information about the health and well-being of your pet, including, but not limited to, their mental health.

For example, nail trims are typically one of the most stressful services for dogs to endure, so we utilize an assistant or another registered veterinary technician, both trained in safely handling pets and accurately assessing their body language.  Because this business is in the comfort of your home, we hope to significantly reduce the amount of stress, fear, and anxiety  (smells, sounds, sights) your pet may experience at the vet or a groomer.

We are also able to answer general nursing questions you may have about your pet’s health.  What kind of questions/concerns can you ask us?  Check out some of these examples!

  • Is my pet overweight?

  • How much food should I feed my pet?

  • How do I get my cat to use the litterbox?

  • Why does my vet recommend testing for heartworm if I give my pet monthly preventatives?

  • Why does my cat need vaccines if he never goes outside?

  • Should I get my pet’s teeth cleaned?

  • How do I introduce my new baby to my pet(s)?

  • How often should my 10 year old dog see the veterinarian?

  • Why should I have bloodwork obtained on my pet?

When you book an appointment with us, feel free to ask me any of these or your own questions!  We are happy to answer them for you!

Disclaimer: I cannot make any diagnoses or prognoses, nor can I prescribe any medications or perform any surgical procedures.  I can, however, suggest a time frame for when to seek veterinary care regarding those concerns which can be addressed at your pet’s next examination.  This can save you time and money.
